Which course is suitable for me?

It depends on whether you are already an experienced captain or would like to start a new career in inland navigation.

If you already have a skipper's service book and several years of experience on inland waterway vessels, the following courses are suitable for you: ADN, LNG, radiotelephone operator course, captain A+B, radar, route certificate, certified simulator driving and expert for passenger navigation.

And if you are completely new to this field, the first step for you is course number 1: "Basic safety training" to obtain your first EU skipper's service book, and step number two, enrolment on the three-year "training course".

What is basic safety training?

From January 2022, new European legislation will apply to the qualification of ship crews. It is now necessary to complete a three-day basic safety training course in order to obtain the first EU service record book. Based on the certificate of completion of the basic safety training, the applicant will then be issued the first EU skipper's service book at the Road Traffic Office or, in the Czech Republic, at the SPS.

What is a training course?

From January 2022, new European legislation will apply to the qualification of ship crews.

After enrolling in a three-year training programme, the student automatically receives the rank of "Leichtmatrose" in the skipper's service book. And then, in the combination of practice + training, the student receives higher and higher ranks in half the time. So you can work your way up from Leichtmatrose to captain in 3 years.

All exams take place in our TMLG Academy.

Certified ship simulator

From January 2022, new European legislation will apply to the qualification of ship crews.

The new legislation states that the practical part of the master and radar examination can be taken on a designated vessel or in a CERTIFIED simulator.

And we have exactly this certified ship simulator.

In this way, we can prepare you for both the theoretical and practical parts of the captain's and radar examination.

Practical part of the captain and radar examination

From January 2022, new European legislation will apply to the qualification of ship crews.

This change in the law also applies to the captain and radar examinations, where a practical part has been added.

As we have a CERTIFIED ship simulator, we can prepare you for both the theoretical and practical parts of the captain's and radar examinations.

Where do the courses and training sessions take place?

In our training centres in Slovakia (Hlohovec) and in the Czech Republic (Děčín).

What about the job after the apprenticeship and what about the salary?

The three-year training course is based on a combination of practice and training. Once you have enrolled on the course, it is our job to find you a job on a ship where you can practise and pay for the course with your wages.
