Basic safety training Your first step to working on board. In three days.
Without basic safety training you will not get a service record book, and without a service record book nobody will take you on board. In three days you go through theory, practice, first aid and health and safety, and you leave with a certificate you can use to get your book anywhere in the EU.

No service record book, no going on board.
For your first service record book you used to need only an application, a medical certificate, a photo and a revenue stamp. A change in EU-wide legislation added one more requirement: passing a three-day basic safety training.
Basic safety training at TMLG Academy is officially accredited and recognised by transport authorities across the European Union. After the course you receive a certificate, and you can get your book from the Slovak Transport Authority (Dopravný úrad), the Czech State Navigation Administration (Státní plavební správa) or in any EU country you choose.
Three days that get you on board.

After basic safety training I had to wait a while for my first job on a ship, but it was worth it. Today I sail for TMLG Group and I’m really happy. I’ve also signed up for the training course, so I reach the higher ranks sooner.
